Savannah Michel is an eighteen year old pianist and vocalist. She has been playing and singing for twelve years and has studied under Charissa Noble, Anna Robitaille, and Melonie Grinnell. She is currently a freshman at University of California, Berkeley and planning to double major in Music and Media Studies. In 2022, she graduated with a jazz major from San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts. There Savannah has worked with John Reynolds, Chaz Cabrera, Tamara Paige, and Elena Correia. She was a lead pianist in the orchestra for the school’s production of Les Miserables in 2021 and was in the nationally recognized Ellington Jazz Ensemble. She was a member of the Young Lions Jazz Conservatory for three years, under the guidance and expert instruction of Gilbert Castellanos. Her ensemble performed regularly at local San Diego venues, Queen Bee’s Art and Cultural Center and Panama 66 in Balboa Park.
In her spare time, Savannah works at a local San Diego record store, M-Theory Music, and has created several designs for their merchandise. She also plays piano and vocals in an all-woman band, Lady Day, which she founded. Savannah can be seen singing regularly at Madison on Park, an award-winning restaurant and bar, for their Tuesday Night Jazz series. Outside of her musical ambitions, Savannah loves to go ocean swimming, surfing with her friends, make jewelry, and play guitar and ukulele.
